The company&#8217;s headquarters is located in <a title="San Francisco" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Francisco">San Francisco</a>&#8216;s <a title="South of Market, San Francisco" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_of_Market,_San_Francisco">SoMa</a> district and is headed by its former editor-in-chief, Peer Schneider. The IGN website was the brainchild of media entrepreneur <a title="Chris Anderson (entrepreneur)" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Anderson_(entrepreneur)">Chris Anderson</a> and launched on September 29, 1996.
