Short answers to common questions.

Most game-update questions have a one-paragraph answer. Search or jump to a topic.

Getting started

  • What is APN? An index of live game updates. Patch notes, news, events, guides, and videos for the games we cover, with each entry linked to the original source.
  • Do I need an account? No. Browsing, search, and reading work without one. An account is what unlocks save, follow, and personalized briefings once public auth opens.
  • Is APN free? Yes. Reading is free. If paid features ship later, they unlock extras. Reporting stays free.

Find updates

  • Search a game or patch Use the top search bar. You can query by game, patch version, source, or content type. Results show posts, games, and sources separately.
  • Browse by game Open Games for the full directory, or go straight to a game hub like /g/path-of-exile-2 for that game's timeline.
  • Browse by source Open Sources and filter by official, YouTube, community, or press. Each source has its own page with the latest entries.

Save and follow

  • How does Save work? Tap the save icon on any card. Saved items live under Profile, Saved, and stay with your account across devices.
  • How does Follow work? Follow a game or source to push it up in your feed and (optionally) get notifications. Manage follows under Profile, Following.
  • Where are saves stored? On your APN account once auth ships. Anonymous sessions save locally on the device only.

Content types

  • What counts as a patch note? An official update from the developer describing gameplay-affecting changes. Hotfixes and balance patches count.
  • What counts as news? Editorial coverage about a game, studio, or event that is not a guide or a patch document. Each entry links the primary source.
  • What counts as a guide? Long-form explainers, build references, and walkthroughs from verified creators or first-party publishers.
  • What counts as an event? Live windows with a start and end date. In-game events, tournaments, limited-time modes.
  • What counts as a video? Official patch overviews, dev streams, and verified creator briefings. Embeds link back to the host.

Accounts

  • How do I sign up? Account creation opens at public launch. The /sign-up page is up for preview but does not create live accounts yet.
  • Can I sign in with Google or Discord? OAuth providers are planned for launch. Email and password is the fallback.
  • How do I delete my account? Email contact@allpatchnotes.com with subject "Privacy request" from the address you registered. Deletion happens within 30 days.

Notifications

  • What does APN send? A weekly digest, breaking patch alerts, video briefings, and source corrections. All optional.
  • Will APN spam me? No. Notifications stay off by default and only fire for games or sources you follow.

Mobile

  • Is there an app? An iOS app is in development. Until then the mobile web is the first-class surface.
  • Does it work offline? Recent pages load offline through stale-while-revalidate caching and refresh when you reconnect.

AI briefings

  • Is APN AI-generated? No. Editorial decisions, source vetting, and the layout are done by people. AI summaries are flagged and always link to the source.
  • Can AI miss something? Yes. Summaries are best-effort. For gameplay decisions, always check the original patch note.

Troubleshooting

  • A page is broken or shows old data Hard refresh (Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + R). If it still happens, send the URL through Report an issue.
  • Search returns nothing Try a shorter query, a game name, or a patch version. The search index updates within minutes of new content.
  • A source looks wrong Send the post URL plus the correction. The entry gets fixed or annotated.
