Ranked Integrity Update – Rookie Rank Exploit
We recently identified and quickly resolved an exploit that allowed some players, primarily on PlayStation 5, to enter Ranked matches as Rookie IV regardless of their actual rank.
This caused several unintended advantages, including:
No Ranked entry cost
Rookie-tier kill bonuses
Matchmaking Rating (MMR) being recorded as 0
RP earned during these matches still being added to the player's actual Ranked score
This created an unfair advantage and directly impacted the integrity of Ranked progression.
Our Anti-Cheat team identified the root cause and deployed a fix to prevent further abuse. We also conducted an investigation into accounts that benefited from this exploit and took enforcement action against players who deliberately and egregiously abused it.
Enforcement Results
A total of 906 accounts have been banned, with suspension lengths determined by the amount of RP gained through exploitation:
731 accounts were banned for 120 days for illegitimately amassing approximately 4,999 RP
107 accounts were banned for 240 days for illegitimately amassing 5,000–9,999 RP
67 accounts were banned for 365 days for illegitimately amassing 10,000+ RP
Enforcement by Platform
PC: 12
PlayStation: 848
Xbox: 44
Nintendo Switch 2: 2
Total RP deducted: 15,112,554
We recognize that some players may have encountered this issue unintentionally. Through our investigation, we were able to precisely identify cases of unintended interaction and distinguish them from deliberate abuse. Those accounts were not actioned.
Ranked integrity depends on a fair and consistent competitive environment. Exploits that undermine matchmaking, bypass Ranked entry requirements, or provide illegitimate progression will be investigated and actioned.
Our team will continue monitoring Ranked, looking for similar activity and addressing vulnerabilities that could be used to compromise competitive integrity.
