MechWarrior Online – 21 March 2023 Patch Notes | Experience the Ultimate Mech Warfare!

Introduction

In a bold move, MechWarrior Online bids farewell to Solaris 7 and embraces a new identity as MechWarrior Online: Legends. This rebranding reflects the game’s evolution over the years and sets the stage for exciting changes in the future. Leading the charge are the introduction of Legendary ‘Mechs and a mini-battle pass system. The team eagerly awaits player feedback on the value of these Legendary ‘Mechs and the mini battle pass. Get ready to dive into the world of Legendary ‘Mechs and discover the possibilities that await!

Under the Legends rebrand, players can now get their hands on the highly anticipated Legendary BattleMechs. The initial offerings include the formidable Fafnir “Juggernaut” and the agile Mad Cat Mk II “Moonwalker”. Priced at $15 USD, these ‘Mechs come with a unique paint job, an “outlier” quirk, and a 30% C-Bill boost. But that’s not all! Each pack also includes a mini battle pass system that rewards players with GSP, C-Bills, MC, Premium Time, and exclusive Cockpit Items, Decals, Colors, and Bolt-Ons, simply by playing the ‘Mech. The best part? There’s no expiration date, so take your time and savor the rewards at your own pace. Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to pilot these legendary machines and make your mark on the battlefield!

MECHWARRIOR ONLINE: LEGENDS

This month we say goodbye to MechWarrior Online: Solaris 7, and rebrand to MechWarrior Online: Legends (see new logo below). Although Solaris lives on in Event Queue (check out the current Clan Medium Solaris event happening all weekend!), it doesn’t represent the game in general, the changes we’ve made over the last couple of years, or the direction MWO is heading this year and next. One of the first key steps is the new Legendary ‘Mechs and their mini-battle pass system. We look forward to hearing what you think of the value of the Legendary ‘Mechs and mini battle pass. Check out the Legendary ‘Mechs below for more information!
NEW LEGENDARY BATTLEMECHS
PLEASE NOTE: REDEEM BATTLEPASS REWARDS ON THE WEBSITE STORE PAGE (UPDATED EVERY HOUR).
With the Legends rebrand comes the new Legendary BattleMechs! The first two Legendary (LGD) ‘Mechs available are the Fafnir “Juggernaut” and the Mad Cat Mk II “Moonwalker” (see pictures below). Each ‘Mech will sell for $15 USD on the website, and will also be available on Steam. Each Legendary ‘Mech is a new variant of an existing chassis, has a custom paint job, an “outlier” quirk, and a 30% C-Bill boost. Also included with each pack is the new mini battle pass system driven by ‘Mech XP. Just by playing the ‘Mech, you will earn GSP, C-Bills, MC, Premium Time, and exclusive Cockpit Items, Decals, Colors, and Bolt-Ons! However, unlike a typical battle pass system, there will be no expiration date to earn these extra items. Take as long as you need!
PLEASE NOTE: WE DISCOVERED AN ERROR WITH THE JUGGERNAUT BUILD. WE HAVE UPDATED THE GRAPHIC!
THERE WILL BE A HOTFIX FOLLOWING THE PATCH TO UPDATE THE MECH.

NEW MAP: FREE WORLDS COLISEUM
Level Designer Krazzdaxx brings you his first completely new map creation in the form of Free Worlds Coliseum (see pictures below)! This is a pretty unique map, in that although it’s a “coliseum” like Steiner’s own, it is much larger in scale. This map will be available in both Quick Play, and Event Queue as a dropdeck-capable map.
(On the overhead map below, the red arrow is pointing to a Mad Cat Mk II Moonwalker for map scale reference.)

To make the patching process easier for players with limited download caps, we’ll be providing direct download links for the patch file(s) that comprise this patch. This will allow you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, for manual injection into the MWO patcher through a Patch Cache folder.

Aside from allowing you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, on another connection, there are no additional benefits to performing the patch this way; the patching process itself will be the same.

This direct patch download process will only work for players running the standalone client. It does not apply to players running MWO through Steam.

  • Download the above file(s)
  • For sake of ease, we recommend creating a dedicated folder for the patch file(s), such as ‘MWO Patch Cache’
  • You do not need to unzip or unpack the patch file(s)
  • Launch the MWO Portal
  • Select the three horizontal lines in the top left of the Portal Window
  • Choose the ‘Specify Patch File Cache’ option
  • In the field that appears, paste or enter the location in which you saved the patch file(s) and hit OK
  • For example, C:\Users\<username>\Documents\MWO Patch Cache
  • Click the blue Patch button
  • The launcher will now check the Patch Cache folder you defined. If it locates the required patch files, it will unpack and use those files to apply the patch.
  • Once the patch is complete, launch the game
