SETTINGS CHANGES TO EPIC AND HIGH
Beginning with Chapter 2 Season 7, if you play with your “Quality Presets” option set to Epic, you’ll notice that both Battle Royale and Creative modes benefit from improved Storm and cloud effects, as well as improved smoke and liquid simulations. What does this mean? Expect improved explosion, fire, and Slurp effects!
Cool changes include improved postprocessing features for bloom and lens flares, as well as improved shadow quality!
Epic settings will now require higher device specifications to run at peak performance as a result of these upgrades. Because High settings will become the equivalent of pre-v17.00 Epic settings, your experience with them may differ depending on your specifications.
With the release of v17.00, the Low and Medium settings, as well as the Performance rendering mode alpha, will remain unchanged.
FORTNITE PC REQUIREMENTS HAVE BEEN UPDATED
We’ve added a system requirements category for running Epic settings optimally with the upgrades to Epic Quality Presets (“Epic settings”): Epic Quality Presets specifications. The Epic Quality Presets specifications DO NOT take the place of the Recommended specifications.
Epic Quality Presets specifications
- Nvidia GTX 1080, AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT, or equivalent GPU
- 4 GB VRAM or higher
- Intel Core i7-8700, AMD Ryzen 7 3700x, or equivalent
- 16 GB RAM or higher
- NVMe Solid State Drive
- Windows 10 64-bit
The Recommended and Minimum PC requirements for Fortnite are listed below. Unrelated to the new visual changes, when v17.00 is released, the Recommended GPU will be Nvidia GTX 960, AMD R9 280, or equivalent DX11 GPU. Also, while Windows 10 64-bit is now the official Recommended OS, players on Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 8 64-bit can still play Fortnite at peak performance. The minimum requirements will remain unchanged.
