TES Online – Update 20 Info | Gets Easier to Build Home’s !

Update 20 provides two important quality-of-life improvements for Tamriel’s home decorators. Learn how you’re able to better manage your home furnishings in this preview article.

ENJOY NEW TOOLS

With Update 20, we’ve introduced two new tools for home decorators: An undo and redo function and the ability to link and move multiple items.

Undo & Redo

The new undo and redo function allows you to instantly revert or restore a change you’ve made while furnishing your home. While home decorating, you can now undo and redo up to 200 steps back during a single session, meaning you can rewind your work back to almost any previous state. The undo function will even return furnishings to your inventory for you. Easy!

“Often, when I get into a new home (especially if I get into a furnished version of it) I think it’s really nice and don’t want to touch anything,” says Cullen Lee, one of ESO’s System Designers. “But now, if I don’t like my new placement, I can just jump it back.”

Item Linking

With the new linking function, you can link groups of items together in order to shift around an entire scene. Previously, when moving a scene, you had to move each individual item one-by-one, but now, you can select a “parent” item and link it to up to 50 “child” items, allowing you to move all of them at once. You can even select those “children” and link more objects to them, making sub-groups for ease of editing.

When hovering over an item, you can select the Link option to choose which items to pair together. When you move that first item, everything else will come with it, however, you can still tinker with the individual “child” items and move them around as much as you like without upsetting the entire scene.

“The goal with linking was to allow players to adjust their creations without having to move every furnishing individually,” explains Cullen. “For example, with a gaming table, you might have 30 or more individual items that make up that scene. Trying to move them one at a time isn’t fun, and you aren’t guaranteed to move everything perfectly. Now, you can move your whole scene quickly and accurately!”

Finally, as you work on your home, all of your recent actions are displayed in a list labeled “History,” helping you keep better track of your changes and additions.

BUILD BETTER HOMES

We know that the ESO community loves to build elaborate, creative scenes with the Housing Editor tool, and now with these improvements, you’ll be able to use the editor more confidently, knowing that any move you make can be instantly reverted and any complicated scene you craft can be easily moved around. Update 20 arrives in tandem with the Murkmire DLC game pack as a free base-game patch. It is now available on PC/Mac and will arrive on November 6 for PlayStation®4 and Xbox One.
