10 Mini Games You Would Buy If Sold Separately (Standalone Games)
Many games have smaller, easier games inside the story line, to give players a break and just let them enjoy a bit of time off from the heavy stuff that happens in the plot. Some of these minigames have actually been so addictive they ended up becoming games on their own! Think of Gwent, the card game from Witcher 3 Wild Hunt, or Geometry Wars which was originally included as a minigame in Project Gotham Racing 2. So we thought to ourselves: surely that are other minigames out there that deserve to have their own spin-off games, right? We are bringing you the top 10 minigames that should be sold separately! So let’s get started! At Number 10 we have Disco from Yakuza 0 It’s probably not as well-known as other minigames from Yakuza 0, such as Pocket Circuit or Karaoke, but it is a fun one nonetheless! The minigame as it is now, has only 5 songs that you can chose from, and once you’ve selected the one you’d like, you have to move your character to a symbol shown on the screen and then pressing the button that matches that particular symbol. Do so in line with the rhythm of the song and you get bonus points! As you hit the correct buttons at the right time, you get to fill a Fever gauge. Once that is full you can activate Dancing fever, which will boost your score by a thousand each time you make the right move.  There is also a Voltage gauge that has four levels and is filled by dancing according to the symbols and commands that appear on screen. You can play this minigame at the “Maharaja” nightclub, but we believe it should be a game on its own (if they add more songs to it though!)! At number 9 we have Motor Kombat, from Mortal Kombat Armageddon Based on the Mario Kart series, Motor Kombat is a minigame that is meant to give players a break from breaking bones and bashing skulls, and let them settle any disputes through healthy racing competition….well, as healthy as a racing competition can be!  This minigame is featured exclusively in Mortal Kombat Armageddon, and has 10 playable characters that you can chose from, each with their own unique ability that will help them in the race. So no matter who you chose to race as, your experience of the game will always be new and different! The minigame also features deathtraps that can be bumped, driven or fallen into. And speaking of the characters, here are their special abilities: Scorpion - spear, Sub-zero - Iceball, Jax - Ground Pound, Kitana - Shield, Mileena - Special Boost, Raiden - Lightning Shield, Bo’Rai Cho - Puke (which sounds lovely!), Johnny Cage - Greengoo, Cyrax - Bomb and Baraka has Double Spark. With Mortal Kombat being such a popular game, and considering how much players love their racing games, it is hard to understand how Motor Kombat is not a standalone game yet! Number 8 the minigame Triple Triad from Final Fantasy 8 In terms of its popularity, Triple Triad was the Pokemon Go of the Final Fantasy 8 world! Everybody who played FF8 was crazy about it, mainly because it’s such a relaxing card game! In this minigame you face against another player. One of you plays as the colour blue, while the other one is red, and your aim is to capture as many of the opponent’s cards and turn them into your colour! The game is played on a 3x3 grid, and each player starts with five cards in hand. Cards can be placed on the grid as the game progresses, but, be careful, because the cards have ranks! Placing one of your lower rank cards next to an opponent’s card of a higher rank will cause your card to turn the opponent’s colour. And that’s how you end up losing it! The game ends when all cards have been placed on the grid, except for one that will remain in one player’s hand. In order to win, you need to have the majority of cards from the grid in your own colour (blue or red). Triple Triad made its debut in Final Fantasy 8, but made a comeback in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Nowadays, you can find it on Final Fantasy Portal App too, although, can you imagine this as a real card game? We think it might give other card games a run for their money! At number 7 we have Demon Tower, from Night in the Woods In the sleepy town of Possum Springs, Mae gets to do a lot of activities that any other regular teenager would do: hang out with friends, interact with neighbors and other people, and, most importantly: play video games. That’s right, as Mae, you can lock yourself up in your bedroom and play video games for as long as your heart desires! Demontower is a 2D minigame that is available to play in Night in the Woods. It is an action packed game that has 9 levels. Each level is full of hazards that the player must avoid and enemies that the player needs to defeat in order to get a key. You cannot move to the next level until you defeat the boss and get that key. Obviously, as you advance in the game, the levels get harder to beat. At the end of the 9th level you have the final boss fight. The levels are numbered with roman numerals and also have individual names:  Level I: The Hole Level II: The Cellar Level III: Skellie Outskirts Level IV: Skellie City Level V: Library Level VI: Church Level VII: Rivers of Blood Level VIII: Leafy Graves Level IX: Cemetery Grounds Once the game is beaten, Mae will make a note of it in her journal.  At number 6 we have Red Menace from Fallout 4 Red Menace can be accessed through the Pip-Boy gadget that is available to players in Fallout 4. Pip-Boy is not just useful for navigating, it also has a bunch of retro games that players can relax with after a long day of work! One of these games, Red Menace, is based on Nintendo’s Donkey Kong. The developers of Fallout 4 knew that if it ain’t broke, why fix it? So instead of changing the game mechanics, they have only changed the characters and the game colors to match Fallout’s theme, thus avoiding a law suit, and keeping their players entertained! In this game you have to rescue Vault Girl from an anthropomorphic Chinese flag by dodging bombs and jumping barrels, while also trying to climb up the stairs. Just like Donkey Kong, but you don’t need a Nintendo to play it, you can just use whatever console or PC you’re playing Fallout on! Speaking of Nintendo, at number 5 we have a minigame called Squid Jump from Splatoon 2 If you ever feel like you need a break from the shooting action of Splatoon 2, you can chill at the Arcade Machine, where you’ll find loads of games to entertain yourself with, from Squid Racer, Squid Beatz, to one of the more popular of the minigames called Squid Jump. This game has the player jump from one platform to another in order to avoid the rising purple ink. But that’s not all! As the player progresses through the game, the levels get more difficult, with platforms becoming icy, slippery, unstable, or become moving conveyor belts. The game has 25 stages, and after every 10 stages the background changes. Besides the stages, players also have a number of power-ups that they can use to help get up faster and keep the game interesting. Squid Jump is a fan favorite, and gamers are hoping that it will be in the new Splatoon 3…although it would be really cool as a standalone game too! Moving on, at number 4 we have Orlog, from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Orlog is a dice game made specifically for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Contrary to what some players might think, this game is not historically accurate, as Vikings never had something like this. It is purely Ubisoft’s vision of how Vikings would pass time and unwind after a long day! The game has been compared to The Witcher’s Gwent, both in terms of enjoyability and its cozy vibe.  A coinflip decides which player goes first, and each round of the game has three phases. The goal of the game is to steal in each phase as many of the opponent’s stones as possible. The game ends when one of the players runs out of stones. With Orlog becoming so popular among Valhalla players, Ubisoft has actually released a physical version of the game! Now all that is left is to make a video game out of it! At number 3 we have Five Finger Fillet from Red Dead Redemption 2 While Red Dead Redemption 2 gives gamers the option to play Poker or even Blackjack, Five Finger Fillet had emerged as a more popular minigame within Red Dead. More commonly known as the Knife Game in real life, Five Finger Fillet in RDR2 has the same rules. You need to put your hand down on a table or flat surface with your fingers spread out and, using a knife, you attempt to stab back and forth between the fingers without actually injuring yourself. In the game, players go against Arthur Morgan, who is said to be very good at Five Finger Fillet. Players must hit the right buttons at the exact moment they appear on screen to ensure they do not stab themselves. If Arthur’s opponent is faster, or if he stabs himself, the game is over. Contrary to Orlog, this game is better to be left in the virtual world, and nobody is encouraged to try Five Finger Fillet in real life! At number 2 we have a relaxing minigame set in the crazy environment of GTA V. We’re talking about Golf! For a game like GTA, which is mostly known for its violence and gangs, it is quite a surprise for players to be able to immerse themselves in such a relaxing game like golf in between two bloody missions! Golf has appeared in other Grand Theft Auto titles too, but in GTA V it is really well done and fleshed out. The minigame is so realistic, from the crazy expensive entry fee that players have to pay, to the accurate golf clubs and spectacular course, the attention to detail is so great Golf could easily be turned into a standalone title as it is right now! So what is Rockstar waiting for?? And, at number one we have The Bedroom from Resident Evil 7: Biohazard! The Bedroom was released as part of the Banned Footage Vol. 1 DLC for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. In this minigame, Clancy wakes up cuffed to a bed after he has been caught by Marguerite Baker. As Clancy tried to free himself, Marguerite shows up with a plate of food and tries to convince him to eat it, saying that the Bakers want him to become part of the family. The whole purpose of the game is to escape from the bedroom, but in order to do that players need a lot of stealth…and patience! Each time Clancy gets off the bed in order to look for clues he makes noise, which results in Marguerite coming to check in on him. And that’s not all! If the player isn’t careful to put everything back the way it was and Marguerite notices, it’s all over! Clancy cannot defend himself and, if stabbed, will take damage. After three hits he will die. Eating the food Marguerite has left for him will kill him too! So the only way to end the game on a somewhat positive note is to find the key and get out. Aaand, that’s all we’ve got for you today folks!
